          Darkest Dungeon

         In 2020, the Mythic Games studio launched a fundraising campaign for the desktop version of the Darkest Dungeon roguelike. The developers planned to raise $300,000, but gamers ended up giving them over $5.6 million.

          The desktop game was supposed to go to backers in November 2021. Though, this never happened. The studio said that due to events taking place in the world, the cost of materials and shipping has increased dramatically. So if gamers want to get what they have already paid for, they will have to pay again.

          When the creators ended the Kickstarter campaign on November 6, 2020, the situation was very different from today. COVID, and then a special operation in Ukraine, led to a significant increase in costs not only for production but also for delivery. Delivery costs increased by an average of 600%. The cost of raw materials (paper, cardboard, plastic) increased by at least 30%.

         Today, the cost of shipping these games is $3.1 million which is higher than what the backers paid. In addition, due to rising oil and raw material prices, production costs amounted to another $350,000. This is a total of $1.75 million of additional costs that need to be paid.

         In order to ensure the sustainability of Mythic Games in terms of releasing our outstanding games and allowing our teams to continue to develop games, we had to make the decision to no longer bear all the additional costs.

         The developers said that they will pay half of the additional costs, and the remaining $875,000 will fall on the shoulders of the backers. Those who pre-ordered the base game will have to shell out another $18, while those who bought the full version with DLC will have to pay $29.

          The studio claims that the first wave of board games is already printed and ready to ship. It will include English versions of the main game and add-ons. But versions in other languages ​​will not begin to print until 2023.

    Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

           The PlayStation Game Size Twitter account that monitors the PlayStation database shared that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a direct sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order, has been added to it.     This month is a perfect time to hit the outdoors and bask in the sun because it’s summertime! People will be flocking beaches or pools to beat the heat while having fun on their Runescape 3 accounts. Summer is a great opportunity to unwind and destress. But for people who enjoy the comfort of their own home, in front of a PC or console, there are still ways to enjoy summer.

    Runescape Summer Beach Party

    Online games often look toward the current trends for content ideas. During summer, game developers go with the summer season for their updates. Players will find a lot of games releasing beach-themed content to keep in line with the season. 

    For seasoned Runescape 3 players, summertime means the comeback of the famous Summer Beach Party event. This event, also called The Beach, is an annual summer event that was first released in 2016. From the name itself, the event follows a beach party theme that offers players summertime-themed cosmetics and activities. 

    During the event, the Lumbridge Crater is transformed into a beach. The event is organized by Reyna, a survivor of the Battle of Lumbridge. The beach parties are thrown to commemorate the victory of Saradomin in the Battle of Lumbridge. 

    There are a lot of activities that players can do during the event ranging from simple Sandcastle Building to taking down monsters featured in the Summer Beach Party event. However, players need to keep watch of the temperature level on the left side of their screen. This gauge will serve as the limit for doing activities on the beach. Players can reset the gauge up to three times by eating Ice Cream. For this year’s The Beach, here is the list of activities available for players to enjoy. 

    • Body Building
    • In the south part of the beach’s center, there are bodybuilding podiums. There are five podiums and they are run by Ivan and Greta. 
    • Four actions can be performed that give the player Strength experience: Curl, Lunge, Fly, and Raise
    • The experience gained can be increased by following the correct action that Ivan or Greta demonstrates. 
    • Barbeques
    • On the beach, there is a barbecue area run by Nigel. The area has three barbecue grills and three chopping boards that players can use twice to increase their Cooking skill. 
    • Raw Tropical Trout can also be deposited to increase the player’s Fishing skill.
    • Palm Tree Farming
    • Scattered around the beach are 15 palm trees where players can harvest tropical coconuts from. These trees are grown by Palmer.
    • Players can harvest coconuts from the trees to gain experience towards their Farming skill.
    • After a certain number of harvests, the trees will be depleted but will replenish after some time.
    • Rockpools
    • The rock pools are located on the east side of the beach and are manned by Wellington. 
    • There are four fishing spots where players can catch Raw Tropical Trout to increase their Fishing skill. Each fish caught will grant the player Fishing experience as well as Runescape gold.
    • Players can also gain experience by handing over the fishes caught to Wellington, or by depositing them in the barbecue area.
    • There are also Toy Pirate Battleships that players can play with to fight against Toy Royal Battleships. This action gives player Construction experience.
    • For added fun, whenever a player wearing a fish mask catches a fish, Reyna will compliment the player instead of the fish.
    • Sand Castle Building
    • The sand castle building area is located on the northwest corner of the beach and is run by Foreman George. 
    • Building sand castles will grant players experience towards the Construction skill. 
    • There will be NPC guests near Foreman George. These guests change every 2 and a half minutes. Building the sand castle tower according to these NPCs will earn players double the experience
    • Hook a Duck
    • There is a Hook a Duck stand on the beach that is run by Sarah that gives Hunter experience.
    • When players choose to play, they will have to choose from three types of rods, each with varying odds at catching ducks and the exp given. The higher the catch chance, the lower the experience gained.
    • Dungeoneering Hole
    • A Dungeoneering hole is available for players to use on the beach.
    • Players can jump in the hole and gain experience towards the Dungeoneering skill every three seconds. 
    • Players will receive random messages regarding their progress inside the Dungeoneering Hole. Once 25 actions are completed, the player will jump out of the hole. 
    • Sandy Clue Scroll
    • The Sandy Clue Scroll activity puts players on a hunt for hidden treasure. Players can click on Reyna to request for Sandy Clue Scrolls.
    • Upon completion, players are given various rewards from the Treasure Trails loot table, or beach items like water balloons. 
    • Coconut Shy
    • Located on the southeast side of the beach, the Coconut Shy stall is run by Sarah. Playing in the Coconut Shy will give players Ranged experience depending on the projectile they use. 
    • Once players choose to play, they will be given three options for projectiles to throw. Each projectile will have different odds at hitting the coconuts and experience rewards. The higher the chance, the lower the experience rewarded. 
    • After selecting the projectile to be used, the player will attempt to knock off coconuts up to ten times per interaction. 
    • Clawdia
    • Clawdia is a boss featured during the event. After 45 minutes of each hour, Clawdia will spawn from the hole in the center of the beach. 
    • Clawdia is Level 250 and has 10,000 HP. Clawdia will reward all participating players loot whether she is defeated or not. 
    • Battling Clawdia does not contribute towards the temperature level, which means she can be battled even if the temperature gauge is full. 

    Maximizing the Activities

    During the event, there will be Happy Hour and Heatwave events that allow players to do the activities on the beach without worrying about the temperature level. 

    • Happy Hour
    • Happy Hour is a scheduled time where players can participate in the activities without increasing the temperature level.
    • During Happy Hour, players gain 10% increased experience from the activities and a 10% increased chance to obtain items from the activities.
    • Happy Hour occurs everyday at 01:00, 09:00, 14:00, 16:30, and 21:00 UTC game time across all worlds. 
    • Heatwave
    • The Heatwave allows players to participate in the activities even if their temperature gauge is at full. This only occurs during the weekend. 

    These are the activities that players can do on the beach. The event is a great way for players to increase their skills and gain items. Runescape 3 account owners, get your sunscreens ready and enjoy the Summer Beach Party event in the game! 

     

  • What’s Coming in Lost Ark’s Wrath of the Covetous Legion Update? 

    Vykaz has made her entrance into Arkesia with the Wrath of the Covetous Legion Update. What can players expect from this major patch?

    Lost Ark West is starting to catch up to the contents already available to other regional servers. With the release of Legion Raids in the previous month, adventurers are now beginning to enter the hardcore end-game content of the popular MMO ARPG. The June 30 Update now brings players additional features brought by the Wrath of the Covetous Legion. What can gamers expect for their Lost Ark accounts in the latest major patch? 

    Legion Raid Vykaz 

    The first Legion Boss, Valtan, was introduced in the previous update. The Beast Legion Commander features a Normal and Hard mode for players with varying Item Levels. After the latest patch, the Covetous Legion Commander, Vykaz, has finally made her debut in the game’s most challenging content. The powerful winged demoness will feature rewards from Lost Ark gold to powerful artifacts and items. 

    The Covetous Legion raid will also be an eight-man party raid with no revives available, so gamers should stay alive as much as possible. While Valtan only had two gates that adventurers would need to clear, Vykaz will feature three gates. The first two bosses will be subcommanders of the Covetous Legion. The third will be the commander herself, who adventurers will face in the Garden of Crimson Delight. For this Legion Raid, the assisting Sidereals are Wei, Nineveh, and Inana. 

    Vykaz requires 1430 Item Level for the Normal mode and 1460 for the Hard mode. Fortunately, players who clear these raid content will receive tons of good rewards such as Tier 3 Accessories, Ability Stones, Engraving Books, and crafting materials for the following items: 

    • Demon Beast Strength Weapon 
    • Covetous Whisper Weapon 
    • Betrayal Instinct Weapon 
    • Nightmare Flower Weapon 
    • Charming Instinct Weapon 
    • Poem of Salvation Weapon 
    • Destructive Gasp Weapon

    Kungelanium Raid 

    Deskaluda was the last celestial being to be added to the Guardian Raid content of the game. Now, the shell-covered Kungelanium will also take the field and be the next foe for adventurers in the Tier 3 content. The icy behemoth is the next level 6 Guardian and will require 1460 or higher Item Level; this being can be faced with a four-person party or solo.  

    Thronespire 

    For the past few months, tower raids have been limited to the Fatespire and Shadespire. With the Wrath of the Covetous Legion update, the Thronespire content has finally made its way into Arkesia. After the events of Southern Vern, the Demon Tower is used as a stable gateway by the demons from Petrania to enter the mortal realm. The knights and priests of the Holy Sacrian Empire are now enlisting the help of various adventurers to help them defend the world and push back the invading demons.  

    The newest Spire will also be a single-player raid in the twisted realm, which will feature 50 levels. The first 25 levels will be the floors needed for the completion rewards, while the remaining levels will be purely for prestige and achievements. Adventurers will need 1325 Item Level to enter Thronespire. Here is the total loot for clearing Floor 25: 

    • 10,500 Guardian Stone Crystal 
    • 3,500 Destruction Stone Crystal 
    • 200 Honor Leapstone

    Heartbeat Island 

    The Golden Wave Island event has come and gone, but a new festival has taken place: Heartbeat Island has now appeared in Arkesia. The event isle is found near Annika and can be accessed after talking to Jollous in any major city. Once the island has been visited, gamers can use the Ocean Liner to reach the area. 

    Like Golden Wave Island, Heartbeat will reward players with a unique event token for completing various quests and daily activities. This currency can be used to exchange multiple rewards from Honing Materials to Una’s consumables. It is assumed that the event will last until the next major update. 

    Players should start grinding for more Lost Ark gold to catch up with the game’s ever-expanding content. With many end-game contents locked behind gear progression, powering up has become essential to enjoy the game. Grind and save up more Honing Materials for the next Honing Session!

  • OSRS’ Unranked Group Ironman Is Live

    For the past couple of months, Jagex has been working on bringing new changes to OSRS’ latest game mode: group ironman. The main goal of all these changes is to make this game mode more casual so that more players can enjoy playing alone or together. Are you tired of skilling up alone? Do you want a friend to high alch all the goodies you crafted to get OSRS gold? Do you dread a particular boss but could use its unique drops? If the answer is yes, then Group Ironman is for you. You can enjoy the loneliness and restrictions specific to the Ironman mode while sharing a group storage with up to four players. You can use it to help them with OSRS items, straight up OSRS GP, or get assistance.

    Trading

    In Unranked Group Ironman, you can directly trade with other group members. And you’ll be happy to know that you can kill bosses and monsters together without the annoying warning that you won’t receive any loot from the kill because someone else touched it first. A great perk of the Unranked Group Ironman (UGIM) is that there are no limitations or restrictions on what you can trade and how many of those OSRS items you can trade within your group. This is also true for prestige GIMs or hardcore GIMs. On the other hand, Non-prestige GIMs have trade value limitations for the first four weeks when they join an already formed group. These restrictions increase every week from 1 mil OSRS GP value in the first week to 100m worth of OSRS gold before finally getting removed starting with the fifth week.

    How to Downgrade to UGIM

    Another great benefit is that you do not need to start over to join a new group. If you have already started the grind, you can downgrade your account to the newest version of GIM: unranked group ironman. You will be able to downgrade any version of ironman to UGIM. Suppose you currently have a Group Ironman, Standard Ironman, Hardcore Ironman, or Ultimate Ironman that you are tired of doing. In that case, you can downgrade it to Unranked Group Ironman and join a new group.

    The downgrading process differs from the other Ironman types for the Group Ironman. For the Group Ironman, you can choose to become a UGIM upon leaving your current group. To start this process, you must go to the node using the portal just north of the Lumbridge teleport. A bit further to the north than the Ironman Tutor. For Standard Ironman, HCIM, and Ultimate Ironman, you’ll need to speak with the ironman tutor in Lumbridge to start the downgrading process. If you have made your Ironman mode permanent, you must remove this option by following the link Jagex provided in their latest Unranked Group Ironman post.

    Regardless of what type of ironman you played before becoming an Unranked Group Ironman, the downgrading process will take seven days. That is enough time to be sure that you want to downgrade your account and have no regrets about your decision. Ultimately, this can change if you are unlucky enough to come across a group incompatible with you or your playstyle. Still, luckily, with GIM, you will have a lot of flexibility in choosing a better-fitting group. You will still need to wait seven days to leave the group, but at least you’ll be able to find a better fit for yourself.

    Downgrade Losses

    1. Chat Symbol

    Upon becoming a UGIM, you will lose the chat icon that indicated your previous Ironman status. You will instead gain a green tainted Ironman symbol. Now there are a total of six Ironman symbols that differentiate amongst the type of ironman you’re playing:

    • Gray for standard ironman,
    • White for ultimate ironman,
    • Red for HCIM,
    • A combination of blue and grey for GIM,
    • A combination of red and grey for hardcore GIMs
    • A combination of green and grey for UGIMs

    Interestingly enough, Jagex did not initially plan on this as they didn’t want to make UGIMs feel like less. However, based on the valuable input from the players, they decided that it’s best to have a new fancy and separate icon for this version of Ironman.

    Say Goodbye to Your HiScores

    This might be a deal-breaker for many and an unimportant change for others; it comes down to your perspective and to whether you care or not about HiScores. Regardless of where you stand, upon becoming a UGIM, you will no longer appear in the previous list of HiScores, whether that’s GIM HiScores, Standard Ironman HiScores, HCIM HiScores, or ultimate ironman HiScores. You will still appear in the individual HiScores with all the regular accounts, so you still have an excellent way to track your progress outside of the game publicly.

    You Get to Keep Your OSRS Items

    Before these changes, when leaving a group, you had to choose between losing all your tradeable items and your OSRS GP and keeping your GIM status or keeping your valuables but becoming a main account. With the new unranked GIM, you will keep your OSRS items and OSRS gold and lose your status plus status icon and HiScores. For many GIMs and other irons, this is a fantastic trade-off that brings a ton of flexibility by removing the rigidity of the ranked GIMs. The changes are a win-win for everyone; you can even start a UGIM group from scratch.

  • Is Valorant Coming to Mobile? 

    The top-rated FPS game is coming to mobile devices. What do we know about the upcoming game?

    Mobile games have grown in popularity as more gamers gain access to their favorite titles, such as Fortnite and Apex Legends. Riot has already released a mobile version of their highly acclaimed League of Legends, and it seems the studio is set to introduce another game to this platform. The gaming company has announced that gamers can soon create Valorant Accounts on mobile phones, which many players are excited about. 

    Valorant on Mobile 

    Riot’s first-person shooter game has been one of the most popular games in recent years. Valorant just places second behind CS: GO as the premiere FPS game on the platform with over a million Valorant Accounts registered. The title has garnered over 14 million monthly players and is currently one of the most-watched tags on streaming platforms such as Twitch. With the success that Valorant has garnered, Riot wants to expand its reach to the global market.  

    Riot developers have officially confirmed that Valorant Mobile is under development. League of Legends’ Wildrift was met with a degree of success, so fans expect the mobile version of the popular FPS game to emulate similar achievements.

    What Do We Know About Valorant Mobile? 

    The development of the mobile version is still in its mid-stages, meaning that the official release date will be way off. However, several leaks and pointers have indicated that Riot will try to release the game within 2022. Here is what we know so far from the updates: 

    • It is confirmed that Valorant Mobile will be available for both Android and iOS devices. The servers for this platform will be separate from PC players due to the limitations of smartphones vs. desktops or laptops. 
    • The game is currently under its optimization phase in preparation for its alpha and beta phases. Riot has been spending the last few months trying to smooth out and make the game playable on mobile phones without causing too many thermal problems. This indicates that there is already a playable working framework. 
    • The game officially went into testing stages on April 7 in China. 
    • Leaks have indicated that agents such as Jett, Phoenix, Reyna, Breach, Skye, Sova, and Killjoy will be available during the playtests. There are no further details on whether other agents will be included. 
    • The updates have pointed out that the alpha phase for the mobile game will occur around the 2nd quarter of 2022. The closed beta version is expected to come out sometime around the latter half of this year if nothing goes wrong. On the other hand, the open beta will take much more time. 
    • According to leaks, Valorant Mobile will have a preset system that will allow them to make immediate purchases during buy phases. When used, these presets will automatically buy the listed weapon, armor, and abilities. 

    While it seems that Valorant Mobile is entirely underway, there are still many things to fix and optimize before the public can get its hands on the game. However, there is a pre-registration process being offered by a third-party app for the game. 

    How to Pre-Register? 

    Riot is keen on offering the best gaming experience for its future players. One of the main steps to ensure a successful release is to have a beta phase available select players. Currently, TapTap is offering a pre-registration for gamers for Valorant Mobile.  

    To pre-register, gamers need to log in to their devices’ app stores and go to TapTap’s page. There “Pre-Register” button is available, which will tag users as potential players for the beta phase.     There are various gimmicks that players need to look out for when they are doing this activity. These unique mechanics determine how many and how fast fish can be caught. Here are some of the basic actions during Spearfishing: 

    Weak Spots 

    Fish can be caught when their weak points have been stricken. A bluish box highlights these areas. Fish size can also be determined by how small the highlight is and how large the fish appears on the screen. 

    Wariness 

    As players spend more time catching fish, other creatures in the area will notice their activity and become increasingly more cautious. This level of alertness is represented by the orange Wariness gauge found in the upper half of the minigame. Once this meter is full, fish will no longer appear in the interface, and the minigame will end. 

    Catch Counter 

    Players should focus on generating more stacks for their Catch Counter to combat the Wariness gauge. This meter increases whenever adventurers catch fish quickly and caps at ten stacks. This gauge slows down the accumulation of Wariness, so gamers’ Spearfishing attempts last longer. However, this counter will reset if players cannot catch anything after a specific time.  

    How to Unlock? 

    Spearfishing can be unlocked by reaching level 61 with the Fisher job and doing certain quests. Adventurers need to interact with Sumitsubo in The Ruby Sea to accept the “A New Fishing Ex-spear-rience” quest, which would effectively unlock the activity. However, this mission requires completing the “In Soroban We Trust” quest. 

    Spearfishing Skills 

    Like regular Fishing, this particular activity has various skills that impact the minigame. These abilities are separated into General Skills and Catch-Based Skills. Here are all the actions available for Spearfishing:

    • Fathom – activates the Spearfishing minigame
