Inductive Positioning System PMI80-F90-IE8-V15

  • Sensor version

There are two different versions of the inductive positioning system F90.

In version PMI80-F90-IU-V1, the positioning system provides current and voltage signals to the output. This is proportional to the position of the damping element.

In addition to the current signal, version PMI80-F90-IU-V1 offers the possibility to teach with two switchings.

Simply press a key directly on the sensor to point independently of each other and express as follows.

Two switch outputs. The output status of the two switch outputs is indicated by two additional LEDs.

Version PMI…-F90-IU-V1

Output signals: 4 mA … 20 mA and 0 V … 10 V

Version PMI80-F90-IU-V1

Output signal: 4 mA … 20 mA and 2 programmable switching stages

  • PMI programming…-F90-IE8-V15

Sensor PMI…-The F90-IE8-V15 is equipped with two small keys on the back that are placed in slightly recessed positions to program the switching points. The key is labeled “teach-in”

Switching points S1 and S2 of switching point S2.

Follow these steps for a switch point teach-in.

-The damping element for position detection must be placed at the desired position, that is, at the teach-in switching point.

-Next, activate each of the two push buttons for at least 2 seconds. The associated switching status LED will start blinking, indicating that the sensor is in “teach-in mode”.

-Press the key again to confirm the desired switching point. The switching state LED stays lit unless the damping element is moved.

This completes the switchpoint teach-in. Adjustable range of actuator ± 1mm

At the learned switching point, the associated switch output switches to the active state.

  • Attenuation factor

The inductive positioning system F90 is optimally tuned as follows:

Shape of damping element

  • Installation and operation

Installation notes

-Flash installation is possible.

-Induction positioning system F90 can be installed side by side in rows to extend the measurement range (not only side by side)

No minimum distance (one after another).

-Distance between measurement fields (

The fixed base or fixed element of the front of the sensor) and damping element must be at least 3.

  • Operational notes

When the damping element leaves the measurement range:

-The last valid value is maintained at the voltage output (PMI… -F90-IU-V1 only) until the damping element is again in the valid range.

-The last valid value is retained for 0.5 seconds at the current output (all types). Then output

It changes to a fault current of 3.6mA until the damping element is in the effective range again.

-The switching stage holds its current state for 0.5 seconds. After that, the active switch output changes to the stationary state (“open” position).

  • Definition of measurement range / measurement position

The measured position of the damping element (actuator) points to half its width (center of the actuator).

The measurement range starts and ends when the damping element overlaps the labeled measurement area.

Do not use this product for applications where human safety is ensured.

It depends on the correct device function.

This product is not a safety device according to the EC Machinery Directive.

If no switching point is confirmed within 80 seconds, the sensor will exit “teach-in”

Select Mode to continue with the previous value.

If you use your own damping element,

The width of the active surface of the damping element is exactly 8 mm,

The width of the entire sensor.

Different widths directly affect what is achievable

System resolution and accuracy.
